Reprise

Reprise by Adam Bell is an awesome and simple to use app that helps you rediscover lost music in your music library. By providing an user interface similar to iPod.app’s, it allows users to shuffle through their music library without repeating the same song or artist.

The app has four controls which are easy to understand right off the bat. Swipe left to go back a song, swipe right to go forward a song. Swipe up to play music and swipe down to pause. In addition, users are provided a choice between a black or white background and they can also turn off the beep between songs. These options are provided via Settings.app, however I’d prefer a way to change them while using the app. Another option I’d like to see added is the ability to shuffle songs by categories (i.e. genre, artist, or playlist). This would be a nice feature to have.

In conclusion, Reprise is not an iPod.app replacer but definitely worth a buy if you want to rediscover the lost songs in your music library. The idea and simplicity behind this app is great, but $1.99 for this app seems a little steep.

Pros -

  • Beautiful app
  • This app really does help you discover lost songs in your music library
  • Works in the background

Cons -

  • No option to shuffle songs by categories (i.e. genre, artist, or playlist)
  • For $1.99, I think the app should be universal
