Riverfold’s Tweet Library is a very useful archival tool providing Tweet management to the power Tweeter, blog site or actively Tweeting companies. Once Twitter account credentials are entered, the 3,200 most recent Tweets from that account are archived and available for review. This provides a great way to browse Tweets from an account and get a better understanding of its Twitter presence.
Another impressive ability of Tweet Library is the creation and management of Tweet “Collections”, which can also be published on www.tweetlibrary.com to be shared with others. Creating a Collection of Tweets is super simple. Tweets can be selected from anywhere in the app and added to user created collections based on whatever criteria the user chooses. This also works hand in hand with the numerous filtering options that are available to sort timelines and lists based on user selected key words, specific users, specific links (twitpic.com, yfrog.com), etc. Unfortunately, a downside to filtering is that it’s limited to just the Tweets already loaded in Tweet Library.
Contrary to my impressions based on its name, Tweet Library is not intended for use as an RSS reader equivalent for Twitter. I was looking for an archived library of the 3,200 most recent, unread Tweets from specific accounts I follow or from subscribed lists, to browse without the fear losing the Tweets into the Twitter netherworld of the past tense.
Overall, Tweet Library is an excellent Twitter accessory app but not quite complete enough to be a daily driver on its own. It provides plenty of tools to help sort through timelines of the power user, as well as, for site administrators to keep track of company/blog’s Twitter accounts. While it’s not for the beginner or average user, those who need to take advantage of its capabilities will find it very valuable.
